Ashley Daughter March 19, 2012

A lot of memories have been coming back to me lately, things I haven’t thought about for a long time.  I remember my sophomore year of high school, dad would drive me to early morning seminary.  Can you imagine driving a moody teenage Ashley at6:00in the morning?  I remember him asking me about what I learned and encouraging me to be good and continue to make good choices.  I probably shrugged most of these comments off, but it did mean a lot to me, especially the old I got.

I also remember all the years of soccer.  I never became the best player, but loved the game and felt so good when my family supported me. I always felt so supported in all the years I played.  I remember dad coming to the games and giving me tips, but never being pushy.  I needed this.  I needed to know that it was okay that I wasn’t the best player, but that my efforts were admired and appreciated.

Another memory-dad pretending like the mouse trap cut his finger off.  Fell for it every time.  I remember crying once because I thought my dad lost his finger.  Thanks for the laughs, dad.  Good memories-I’m grateful for these memories.

Allison Walsh My Dad March 19, 2012
One of my favorite memories of my Dad was when he took us toilet papering in the middle of the night and had tp wars.

I remember times of sneaking out with friends and he would catch us coming back in and never ask what we were doing or tell anyone. All my friends thought he was a cool Dad!

I also remember how he loved to embarass his children in public...especially at the mall or stores.  We would be walking in the mall or down an aisle at the store and he would let out this loud fart and then try to blaim it on one of us kids.  I always took off running and was like, "really Dad?"

I also remember when we got into a perfume/cologne war in a store once and the people at the check out line was looking all around and wondering who reeked of a mixture of perfumes and colognes.

I also remember all the fun family trips we would take to Disneyland, Tahoe, Pajaro Dunes.

I also remember late nights of him helping me with my math homework.  He was so smart and great at math...it has never been a good subject for me, but he helped me get through it and understand it enough.

I also remember his silliness and sticking random things up his nose to get my friends and I to laugh.

There's many memories to remember him by and thankful that he was my father and all that he did for me and my family growing up.  He will be greatly missed and was loved by many.  Love you Dad and miss you!  I know you're at peace now and with Pama and Papa.  Even with you gone now...you'll still live on in our hearts and minds and memories and I know I'll see you again some day.  Love you Dad!

Sabrina Stemmons The most fun father I have ever known March 18, 2012
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. And all who knew him feel loss as well. He was a very warm hearted, silly and loving person when I was growing up spending a lot of time with Allison.  I have the greatest memories of the fun things that we used to do. All the toilet papering of people's yards that he fully participated in. Which only made me think of what a cool dad he was. Also I have memories of when I would have a sleepover at your house. After you had fallen asleep he would sneek into your bedroom quietly and remove your jewlery with lotion so it wouldn't hurt your fingers while you slept. What an endearing man he was. Russ will be missed.
Aaron Walsh Dad March 18, 2012
He was the father that all of my friends loved. If he wasn't participating in the silliness, you could be sure that he was the one leading it. Growing up, he was one of the most possitive people I knew. His outlook on life was that we were here to be happy. I have many fond memories.

I remember a summer night when we almost got caught tping. The owners of the house turned on the lights and we sprinted to the next door neighbors house. We hid under their car for 20 minutes and watched them clean up the tp. Afterwards, we jumped out and walked down the sidewalk like nothing happened. A neighbor shined a light on us and asked if we were with the kids that he had just seen running down the street. Dad said, "Just out on a walk with my son". We then came back 10 minutes later and finished the job.

I remember when we entered the cake making contest at a dinner event. We had big plans for making a huge cake that was going to blow everyone's mind. We were going to win for sure. When our cake came out of the oven, it had collapsed into a pile of chocolate goo. I figured we were done and wouldn't be able to enter. Dad decided we were going to enter after all. He titled our cake, "Cow Pie". We won the most creative award.

I remember when he dropped me off for my first year at college. There was a mixture of pride and saddness in his eyes.

I remember that he was there for me when I needed it, always. Whether it was giving praise or comfort. I could always go to him for anything, and he would understand. He taught me so much more than he realized.

Dad, you will be missed and you are loved.
Jamie Roberts My Uncle March 18, 2012
Russ was my silly Uncle, making jokes, playing pranks and always had us kids in stiches. I remember he took us for a walk on Bear Creek long ago and we saw some friends of his. He introduced me as "Mariah, Mariah from Ohia". I thought it was so funny, and he kept giving me these looks tell me to keep a straight face. They were asking me about Ohio (being 10 I didn't know much about the state) and I was trying really hard to play a long. Then Uncle Russ let the cat out of the bag and his friends made the comment that this was "typical Russ". I don't know why that has always stuck in my mind, just a silly little memory that I will keep in my heart forever.

I haven't seen him in a few years but I know one thing never changed. He loved his children and his family with ever fiber of his being. I'm so sorry for the loss of your father, he will be missed and I will continue to keep you all in my prayers.
